Company history

Masonite in the Czech Republic

The origins of door production in Jihlava date back to the 60ies of the previous century. In 1957 Jihomoravské dřevařské závody company was established in Jihlava, which was responsible for most flat door manufacturing in former Czechoslovakia. A significant milestone in the company's evolution was its privatization in 1994, which changed the company into a joint-stock company called Jihlavské dřevařské závody,  which then in 1997 split into Kronospan, Kronodoor and Kronomech companies.

In 2004 Kronodor was merged with the Masonite group and since 2006 Masonite CZ has had its own place of business in Jihlava at Hruškové Dvory.

14.6.2021 Masonite Corporation International was acquired by Czech Investment firm DOOR INVESTMENT s.r.o. From this date forward the traditional door manufacturing company is once again 100% owned by Czech holders. The goals and strategies of the company of course remain the same. Our future priority is to retain the position of the largest door manufacturer in the Czech Republic, and to further strengthen our position not only in domestic markets, but in all export markets as well.
